CIRCUS Tokyo · No. 1

Why it's number one

CIRCUS Tokyo is the reason I moved to Japan. After seeing performances from some of my favorite artists like Fred again.., MPH and Salute - I kept hearing artists say it was the best set they've ever played in their life. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, with drinks flowing all night long upstairs, and a packed dance floor downstairs. Barely anyone is on their phone, and the sound system is perfect with really great ventilation, a projector for visuals and lasers for Coop parties. It's one of those clubs that if you know you know, and while it's only a 10 minute walk to Shibuya Station, it's just far enough away where the people coming are only coming because they know what's happening and they want to come dance and enjoy the music.

SALOON

The perfect postgame calm down.

What you get

A small bar and club with almost no lighting. It's open till 6 or 7 in the morning.
SALOON is perfect for postgaming.
CIRCUS and SALOON share the same ownership, and the same DJ booking.
It sits right under number four on this list, Unit, so you can move between the two.

Lion

A music bar with club speakers.

What you get

This is a music bar using club sound systems, so you can have a conversation while the DJ plays in the back.
It's members only Monday to Thursday, so come on a Friday or Saturday, when anyone can walk in.
Just one floor above number six on this list, Enter, so you can pre-game here and head down to party after.

What you get

It has a full live house stage and a sound system to match.
About 600 people fit inside, so it almost feels like a small concert but still remains quite intimate.
SALOON is right downstairs and ORD. is upstairs in the same building, so you can move between all three.

While everywhere else is closing, Enter is just getting good.

What you get

On its after-hours nights Enter keeps going until 9am, long after most clubs have closed.
They play electronic music all night, and on after-hours nights the crowd keeps getting bigger into the morning.

Four floors under one of the largest mirror balls in Asia.

Big international techno and house bookings regularly land here.
The main floor is a three-story atrium, with smaller side rooms on the first and fourth floors.
The main floor uses d&b audiotechnik speakers, built to stay loud without getting harsh.
Open since 2000, and ranked 67th in the world in DJ Mag's 2021 list.

Womb's brand-new little sister, built for nothing but dancing.

Opened December 2025 by the Womb team, close to Womb in Maruyamacho.
A minimalist 200-person room built solely around the sound system, for people who are here to dance.
Night events run 10pm to 4:30am, 20 and over with photo ID.

Disco and soul early, house and techno late, 10pm till 5am.
